What is Hernia? A hernia occurs when an internal organ or body part protrudes through the muscle or tissue wall that contains it. There can be different hernia causes like consuming tobacco, chronic constipation, smoking, poor nutrition, etc. In most cases, hernias are common in the abdominal area, upper thigh area, groins, or belly button. The patient feels a lump and experiences pain. What is the cause of a Hernia? Almost all Hernia is caused by some internal pressure or an opening or weakening of a muscle inside the body. This muscle weakness can be present by birth or can occur later in your life. The organ or part protrudes from the weak side due to the pressure. How is a hernia diagnosed? A hernia is diagnosed during a clinic visit by a physical examination. Your doctor may ask you to stand, cough or strain to do an accurate diagnosis.
